Innovation Never Stops at Summit Automation!
We just returned from GlassBuild, where we saw some very interesting next-generation products. It was exciting to see how well our Technology Roadmap aligns with where the industry is heading—not just today, but for years to come. As a leader in our space, it is important that we continue to innovate and maintain our leadership position.
2026 has been a year of many firsts. On the mechanical side of our business, in addition to our automation solutions for multi-slide doors, pivot doors, sliding windows, sliding bookcases, sliding garage doors, ballistic doors, and tilt-up windows, we now offer for:
- Vertical lift windows, also known as vertical raise or lower windows
- Casement windows
- Centor S7 and S8 sliding screen systems – debuting Q1 2027
- Vertical walls that raise or lower and completely disappear from view – debuting Q4 2026
Our latest electronic developments include:
- 12-in-1 touchscreen integration – already released
- Electronic lock integration – already released
- New transparent, thin-line wall switches designed for exterior applications and harsh conditions – debuting this month
And those are just a few examples of what we have been working on.
We are also featuring a new blog this quarter, which you can find at the link below. I invite you to take a few minutes to check it out.
2026 has been an excellent, record-breaking year for both our customers and our company. We thank each and every one of you for your continued support and for selecting Summit Automation as your preferred window and door automation solutions provider.
The Largest Glass Doors in the World
A large glass door is a statement in itself, inviting in light and allowing people to see both in and out. For standard glass doors like sliders or standard panels, the procedures and mechanisms are well-known. But what about for the largest glass doors in the world? A pane of glass that weighs 40 tons isn’t limited by the furnace making it, but rather by the mechanism that’s going to carry it. Past a certain size and weight, a glass door becomes an impressive feat of mechanical engineering more than anything else.
The Guinness World Record for the largest glass window is currently held by the Taikang Financial Tower in Beijing, measuring 547.5 square feet, 56.1 feet tall, and 6.5 tons.
While there is a category for “largest glass window,” there is no listing for the largest glass door. Perhaps this is due to the fact that the distinction between “door” and “window” seems to blur after a certain point.
This article covers some of the largest glass doors in the world (and one series of windows) along with the different mechanisms and engineering solutions that carry them.
Transparent Thin-Line Wall Switch
Here is another innovation from Summit Automation: our new transparent, thin-line wall switch!
This sleek, modern wall switch remains transparent until touched, when the controls become visible. Designed for exterior applications, it is completely sealed to withstand harsh conditions, including humidity, heat, and water infiltration.
