Customer Care Is Paramount!
At Summit, we take pride in offering the best automation systems at the most affordable prices on the market so you can turn your beautiful doors and windows into sophisticated solutions. We also offer the best service in the business. Whenever you have a question or issue with your doors and windows, their automation, or both, our team of professionals is ready to answer them.
In many cases, the automation isn’t necessarily causing issues – we’ve noticed the culprit tends to be changes at the job site, such as the house settling or the doors being a bit off track, or maybe even the sill being dirty or having some debris present that is creating the snag.
When some kind of obstruction is hit, the motor stops the door, exactly as it is intended to do. The motors are smart motors, and they measure how much pressure is being applied to them. If a motor stops the process of opening or closing, it does so to protect the door and the door’s rollers. Even though our motors could power through, there’s little that can damage a door more than trying to pull it over an obstruction – doing so could result in damage to the sill or rollers.
Our goal is not to have super-fast opening and closing doors, but rather safety during the process. When moving 6-8 doors at a time, each 15-20 feet tall, we want them to move safely around our Customers. If for some reason your doors require more force to be opened and closed, our software has a way to determine this and we can adjust the motors accordingly.
If you do experience any issues, just give us a call at 480-500-5468 and our technicians will be happy to walk you through it. Usually, they will first ask you to push ‘unlock’ and manually try to roll the door back and forth. If it sticks, then we’ll get on FaceTime with you and inspect the door with you, live, to see if there are any obstructions or debris. Next, we’ll start using the software and system to be able to operate the door. Our fantastic, patient techs are fully trained and able to walk you through this entire process.
We look forward to working with all of you. If you ever have any questions or want to upgrade your system with additional accessories, just give us a call. Thank you and have a great quarter!!

You might find Sierra hiking and backpacking, with the Payson area being her favorite place to appreciate the great outdoors.
Automated Doors Have Come a Long Way Since Heron of Alexandria
Greek-Egyptian mathematician Heron of Alexandria was an inventor, who came up with many contraptions and also experimented with steam as a source of power. He lived from about 10-70 CE, and during that time, he utilized a fire altar and hydraulic system to invent a way to automatically open temple doors.
The fire altar was located in front of the temple, and when it was lit, heat would turn into pressure in a soldered vessel filled with liquid located under the temple. The liquid, which was most likely water, was then pushed through a hose and into another soldered vessel that hung from the ceiling and connected to the temple doors’ doorposts underground with ropes. The weight of the liquid, now in that hanging vessel, pulled on the ropes causing the doors to open. When the fire was extinguished, the pressure and water ebbed back into the first vessel (essentially reversing the process) and the doors would close. Check out the illustration below from Artefacts for their interpretation of the system.
The temple doors appeared to open and close as if by magic, since the only visible part of the system Heron of Alexandria invented was the fire altar, which was not an uncommon sight during that time period. We’ve come a long way since his invention for temple doors, but our automation systems work like magic too. The motors that operate your doors (and windows) are hidden, and all it takes is a tap on the control pad or in the app to open and close your doors. You and your guests will be amazed, just like those so long ago who witnessed the temple doors!
